Winning at being a Grown Up: Today I got my car serviced (routine maintenance) and went to the doctor (sinus infection, bleah), both of which I'd been putting off for ages. Yay!

Failing at being a Grown Up: Trying to go into work on my day off and discovering when I got there that I didn't have my badge and keys. I still haven't found them. Boo. :(

I just finished making my 50th Pennyblossom. A couple weeks back, EW.com posted a Big Bang Theory gift guide, and they linked my Pennyblossoms! ("For: Someone who knows who Radiohead is.") That led to a very nice uptick in business, which has been pretty awesome. It would have been more awesome if my actual job hadn't suddenly gotten crazy busy at the same time, but whatever, I can sleep later.

Speaking of sleep, I have an 11-mile run at 6:45 am, so I should really go to bed. (I never thought I'd get to the point where 11 miles seemed blessedly short, but here I am. Last week was 19 miles. That one was tough, NGL.)

HAY GUISE. This is a drive-by post to let y'all know that you should check out all the charity auctions going on over at foresthouseeyes-- there is some really awesomesauce stuff being offered, from signed copies of books to art to mini top hats to fic to a guest appearance on a podcast. All funds raised go directly to foresthouse to help her pay for badly needed eye surgery. (It is 100% certain that she is a real person-- she is a dear friend of cleolinda-- and she is having real surgery that her insurance really won't pay for. It's sad that we have to say these things, isn't it?)

Anyway, I'm offering two Pennyblossoms and people are bidding on them! So yay!

Most of the auctions end on October 30 (Saturday) at 12 noon Eastern, so bid soon!

When I put together my Penny costume for WonderCon, I made a Pennyblossom to go with it. (For non-Big Bang Theory watchers: in a second-season episode, Penny starts making sparkly flower barrettes, called Pennyblossoms, and wants to turn it into a business. The boys get involved, and hilarity ensues.) The show actually put up a fake Pennyblossoms website, featuring the greatest gift you can give to an accuracy-obsessed costumer: a big, clear picture of the actual hair clip.

In order to buy enough supplies to make one Pennyblossom, I basically had to buy enough to make 20. So I decided to make a few from what I had left over and put them up for sale on Etsy. I figured they might be fun, subtly geeky things for people to wear, especially to something like Comic-Con or Dragon*Con.

So-- my store, Bright Copper Penny, is open for business! :) The pictures below link to the different barrettes I currently have up. I have more flowers and rhinestones that I haven't made up yet, so I could do custom orders as well. Feel free to link around if you know someone who might be interested!
