Hey, remember when I posted about fandom-y stuff on this journal? (Remember when I posted at all?)

Spoilers for the Bones finale, 6x23, 'The Change in the Game' )

You guys, I think I may need some sort of Disney intervention, because I am watching The Princess and the Frog for the fourth time in as many days and Rogue keeps asking me when we can send it back to Netflix and I keep being like NO! MINE! NO TOUCHY! I can't believe I didn't go to see this in the theater. I should've gone opening night, dressed up like a princess.

(I may or may not also be trying to figure out how I can make one of Charlotte's huge floofy pink dresses such that it fits into my D*C luggage. Charloooooootttte.)

ALSO!!! In unrelated joyfulness, Perri, one of my favorite reccers ever, has new recs up! Dresden Files! Leverage! SG1/Lantis! New Trek! (Did fandom ever agree on how to refer to the new movies?) Crossovers among the above-mentioned! *in fic heaven*

Oh hallelujah-- either AO3 fixed whatever was wrong, or I found the right portal/homepage/whatever, because now if I go to Yuletide it returns all the fics (instead of the first 1000), which means all the fandoms show up in the filter sidebar, *and* you can filter with an "OR" so you don't have to click through the fandoms one at a time. Which is a long way of saying, help, I've fallen into Yuletide and I can't get out.

A Yuletide rec for you!

"Penny racks her brain for the next twenty miles, trying to think of a subtle way to bring up the topic of meeting your time-traveling future self, or being sent on a mission to avert an apocalypse-related death. Finally she tells herself Forget it, Penny, it's Nerdtown. Sheldon and Leonard have weirder conversations six times a day. Sometimes before breakfast. Sometimes over Twitter."

I've been on a serious NCIS kick lately (thanks, USA reruns). I mean. The characters explicitly refer to the team as a family. And Abby goes around hugging everyone all the time. I'm constitutionally incapable of resisting a show like that.

Which is all to say, FIC REC:
Agent Afloat Atlantis
It's Ziva. On Atlantis. It's awesome. Basically it spins off the end of S5 of NCIS, only instead of getting sent back to Israel, Ziva's assigned to Atlantis and ends up smack in the middle of S5 of SGA. (And let me tell you internets, *that* I would have watched.)

And because I read *way* too much fic, when I started reading AAA, I was like, "Oh awesome! She can meet up with Yoni!" And then I remembered, that's not canon, that's [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine's fic. Which arguably is better than canon in many ways, but still. (Seriously, she does the best military SGA fic out there. Try her novelization of The Rising (the SGA premiere), and then when you have some time and feel like being punched in the gut, read The Jenny Code. And there are a million more stories too.)

Also there are not enough NCIS/Bones crossovers on the intertubes. I found one but doesn't it seem like there should be more? Like the NCIS people find a body, only oh no, it's only a skeleton by now, so they have to call the Jeffersonian and of course then Booth demands to get involved and there is more NCIS/FBI fun stuff and Abby and Hodgins would totally geek out about bugs or something.

Also also, you know what would be the most amazing crossover ever? Bones and Castle. Because you know Brennan's aware of Castle, and she thinks he's a talentless hack who has no real understanding of forensic science, and I bet they once met at some conference or event and he totally hit on her and she was like EW, GO AWAY PLEASE, and then Beckett and Booth would be over in the corner rolling their eyes and trading war stories about the ridiculous situations their civilian partners have gotten them into.

And after that, I want a Castle/Dresden Files crossover. And a pony.

Fic rec time! (No babies this time, I promise.)

Today we have Bones, with Supernatural along for the ride (I don't watch it, but fandom_wank has taught me enough that I can follow along). So here are three loosely-related fics that cracked me the hell up:

omg otp!!1! by [livejournal.com profile] with_a_kay
Sweets is the best BNF ever. Because you know Sweets isn't just writing a scholarly book on B/B.

But What Are Your Thoughts on Yaoi by [livejournal.com profile] with_a_kay
"No. Having a therapist on our double date with gay brothers would not make it better." SPN crossover, and Wincest, obv, but it's ridiculously hilarious.

Mutual Fangirling by [livejournal.com profile] with_a_kay
This one makes a lot more sense if you read f_w. Delicious, delicious meta response to the whole SPN PTB poking their fanbase with sharp sticks thing, and a sequel to omg otp!!1! Made me burst out laughing repeatedly.

Baby Donut is finally here, and I am going to celebrate! How, you ask? Why, with a metric ton of babyfic recs, of course. How else?

Follow me to a wave o' babyfic )

Aaaaand I think that'll do it for now. If you have any recs, feel free to leave them in the comments! I love reading new fic. :)

jaina: (sga - ronon cup of sex)
It never fails-- I go through my day thinking "I should post this to lj, I should post that to lj" and then I get home and can't remember what the hell I was going to post.

So have some fic recs:

Hero for a New Age, by [livejournal.com profile] smittywing
SGA; Ronon and Rodney mostly, with some team stuff
"Superman's the last of his kind, too," Ronon said quickly. “I'm going to try to get McKay to rig me up some heat vision so I can melt steel like Superman."
Delightful.

The Making of an Emperor, on the TFN boards
Star Wars: Legacy of the Force and Star Wars: Legacy (seriously, they've got to come up with better names for these things)
OMG YOU GUYS. It's a Jaina-and-Jag-restart-the-Empire fic that doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out! I've been wanting one of those since I first read Legacy. It's not high art, or anything, but compared to the general level of SW fic it's very passable. (Why does most EU fic suck so badly? Why?)

Bromanian Rhapsody, by [livejournal.com profile] dollsome
How I Met Your Mother, Barney/Robin
“You know what?” he continues pensively. “We need our own country. King and queen of Bromania.”
I love Barney/Robin like I love cake. And I *love* cake. Why isn't there more fic??

[livejournal.com profile] snacky's running a great all-fandoms-included fic recs poll in her journal:
Occasionally, I see discussions about how this is the best damn fic ever, and you'd give it to people who weren't even in fandom to read!

...

Tell me about the greatest fic, the one you'd give to people who aren't in fandom (although, I'd think they'd need to have at least a familiarity with the source material, but that's up to you) and say, "OH MY GOD, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS, IT'S SO GOOD!" It doesn't have to be anything recent - it can be the first or last fic you read, however many years or months or days ago. If you can't narrow it down, pick two. And please, feel free to discuss the fic in the comments.

It's completely awesome for finding really amazing stuff you missed out on the first time, or rediscovering old favorites. I was pleased as punch to find a bunch of X-Files epics that I'd never read, and a Labyrinth fic that was really quite decent. (However-- seriously, y'all, you can stop reccing Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose anytime now, cause it's already in there about ten times. Yes, it is astounding and amazing and yes, it made me cry, too. But c'mon, give us your next fic down the list!)
